A few days after returning to Kodiak from our vacation, we learned that my Grandfather passed away. While we kind of knew this was going to happen sooner than later, it’s still a hard thing to grasp. My Grandparents were always our biggest supporters, besides our parents, when we were growing up. They were at every school and sporting event we had. My Grandma could often be heard cheering loudly, while my Grandpa watched intently and quietly beside her.
It was hard returning to my parents house and knowing that my Grandpa wouldn’t be seen walking around his gardens or sitting in his favorite chair when we came over.
As a blogger, we often put much of our personal lives out there for others to see and read about. And honestly, I just needed a break. I needed time to heal and to be with my family.
So after an emotionally draining week and 3 coast-to-coast 24 hour flights with a toddler, we’re finally home. I’m incredibly blessed with the most amazingly supportive husband who didn’t even blink when I told him I wanted to fly back to the east coast for the funeral. I’m also blessed with the most amazing family and friends a girl could ask for. Our family has received so much love and support and I can’t even put into words how much it means to us!
During our travels this summer, I have learned that an airport and travel friendly outfit is a must. When we travel from Alaska to the east coast, our flight is normally around 20-24ish hours. Which is rough. But having a travel friendly outfit can make a world of difference. I’m loving this top from PinkBlush Boutique! It’s flattering, super soft and adorable! It helped me look good even after traveling for a full day! This top paired with leggings and a pair of comfy flats is my favorite go-to outfit for traveling. PinkBlush is a trendy online boutique that carries an outfit for every occasion and season of your life. Their amazing maternity line now has expanded to cover women’s clothes and it has exceeded all expectations.
Due to all the craziness that was my life last week, I decided to take a break from social media and from my blog. I didn’t really post on instagram and completely ignored my blog. I thought it was more important to spend the time with my family during this time. It was refreshing knowing I had no obligations and could put the computer down for a few days. But I’m back, ready to go and have some super exciting things planned for the upcoming month for Anchored Mommy!
