Sorry I haven’t posted an update in awhile. Things have been super busy and hectic. On top of that our hotel internet was HORRIBLE. I’m very impatient so even attempting to blog just wrecked my nerves, so I didn’t even try.
After being in the hotel in Kodiak for about 10 days we FINALLY were assigned housing! There are a couple of different neighborhoods and tons of different floor plans, so I was originally nervous to see what we would get. Housing is based on the number of dependents you have. Since we only have one child, we were slotted for a two bedroom. In Elizabeth City we had a large three bedroom house with an “office” that we turned into Matt’s man cave. We had a ton of stuff so I just knew we were going to have to find storage when we got to Kodiak. Some of the 2 bedroom floor plans here are only 900 square feet.
Luckily, we ended up with a duplex in a community called Lake Louise. Our house is about 1200 square feet but we have a large basement, garage and a fenced in yard. Which Riley LOVES! Our house is a split level with the garage on the first floor, so the main level housing has a huge front porch that overlooks the lake. Our views here are absolutely gorgeous! The views help make up for how much smaller the house is.
Madison has grown SO much since we began this trip. She’s so much more active than she was when we left North Carolina and she’s doing something new everyday. I am constantly amazed at the new things she can do! She’s so independent and loves to feed herself her snacks. She’s on the move and into everything. It’s so fun spending the day with her and seeing what new things she will learn.
Everything seems to slowly be falling into place here. Our house is “mostly” put together. There are still some things that have NOT been put away. We still need to hang pictures and do a few things to make our place “homey” but that will all happen with time.
Now that we are mostly settled we have so many adventures we want to take while we’re here. I look forward to sharing them all with you!
Last week, I posted a review on “The Six Box”, a reverse care…
