There is always such an emphasis put on our physical health, especially during this time of the year. But have you ever thought about improving your oral health? Your mouth is actually the gateway to your health. So a healthy body, starts with a healthy mouth.

A healthy mouth is even more important than people realize. Did you know that the same bad bacteria found in your mouth is also found in the arterial plaque in heart disease? Or that oral care issues have been linked to cancer and diabetes in addition to heart disease? Recent research by the Mayo Clinic that a healthy mouth can have a huge impact on your overall health.

I’ve had several family members who have suffered from diabetes and heart disease. It makes me wonder, could this have been linked to poor oral health? I want to live a long, healthy life and I’d love to have the added benefit of fresh breath and sparkling white teeth while doing it. So my resolution for this year is to follow the below tips to improve my oral health.

Drink More Water

Choosing to drink water over sugary drinks is a great way to benefit you oral health. Sugary drinks can cause tooth decay over time. Water keeps you hydrated and gives your mouth the best chance to be healthy, verses sugary drinks which can cause poor oral health and bad breath.

Brush

Brushing your teeth at least twice a day is SO important. This not only helps ward off bad breath, but it also helps prevent gum disease, can remove staining on teeth and helps prevent cavities.

As a Mom, it is also important for me to set a good example for my daughter and teach her the importance of benefits of good oral health. While she’s only three, we’re doing this by showing and teaching her how important it is to brush every day and by making this a routine that we do together.

Floss

I’m going to be honest, this is definitely something I need to do more of. I have really sensitive gums and they normally bleed when I floss, but I know this is also worth the pain. Flossing is a great way to rid of food particles and bad bacteria that could cause oral health issues later.

Probiotics

Until recently, I didn’t realize that there were probiotics to help with oral health. I’d heard and benefited from probiotics for my digestion– but recently experienced the benefits from using probiotics for my mouth. ProBiora™Plus, a unique oral care probiotic, helps by restoring the naturally occurring good bacteria in the mouth. Once a day I take ProBioraPlus, which is a mint that is easily dissolved in the mouth, and it adds millions of good bacteria that drive out the bad bacteria, leading to a better balance of bacteria in the mouth. ProBiora™Plus also helps drive out the bacteria that cause gum disease, tooth decay and less-than-fresh breath. Results can include: fresher breath, whiter teeth and an overall healthier mouth.

Each mint contains a patented, freeze-dried blend of probiotics, called ProBiora3®, discovered and developed by Dr. Hillman, a Harvard microbiologist and dentist, and is supported by 30 years of clinical research. This is the easiest and freshest way to kick bad oral health to the curb.

Like I said earlier, my gums bleed easily – which means I should improve my gum health. I started taking ProBiora™Plus 30 days ago and have noticed the BIGGEST difference in how my gums feel. They don’t feel swollen anymore and I’m able to floss much more easily and with less bleeding. ProBiora Plus is extremely easy to use, you just let it dissolve in your mouth like you would any other mint. ProBioraPlus tastes like a mint, it’s not chalky or bad tasting. It really is a mint that’s actually beneficial for your oral health.

I’ve loved my results over the past 30 days. I feel like I have fresher breath and a whiter smile! My goal for 2019 is to get my husband on board, too!

Go the The Dentist

I absolutely hate the dentist. Maybe it’s the five years of braces that are still haunting me, but I’ve never liked the dentist. I have to force myself to go every 6 months. Seeing the dentist and having a doctor fill cavities or make the necessary interventions when needed is extremely important. So, even though I despise it, it’s one of the best things we can do for our oral health.

**** There are no known interactions between ProBioraPlus and medications. In fact, it is wise to use ProBioraPlus during and after a course of antibiotics, which can disrupt the bacterial balance in the mouth. As with use for any medication, it is suggested that you check with your Doctor/Dentist or Pharmacist for more information.

I need to floss a lot more. I’m finding it’s easier with those little flosser sticks, but it’s so wasteful. Drinking more water is ALWAYS a good idea for your health!

Great tips. I always go for my 6 month dental cleanings and I take a probiotic supplement daily.

I’m crazy about my teeth, so I was over here screaming, “YES! THAT! THAT TOO!” this whole time!
