Before I became a mother, I was not a morning person at all. After working long hours during the week, I was always looked forward to sleeping in during the weekends.  After becoming a mother, my days of sleeping in late (and actually sleeping) were no more.

A cross-country move later and I became a stay-at-home-mom who had no choice but to become a morning person. Waking up with my husbands alarm clock during the week or when my daughter was ready to begin her day did not work for me. I’m someone who thrives off of my “me-time” and I was desperately missing this. I wasn’t taking care of myself like I should and was left irritable because of it.

Around this time I had rediscovered my passion for health and fitness. I knew that waking up at the last possible second and rushing through a unhealthy breakfast was not beneficial to my health at all. It was time for me to establish a morning routine.

And guess what?

I now start my mornings happier, more productive and more energetic than ever!

So how do I do it?

1. Wake Up At Least An Hour Earlier Than You Have To – My husband’s alarm for work goes off at 7AM, so I set mine for 6AM. This way I’m able to not be rushed, enjoy my morning and embrace the very little alone time I have before my toddler wakes up.

2. Hydrate – Flush out your toxins from the night by starting your day off with drinking a glass of water.

3.Enjoy Your Coffee – Make a cup of coffee or tea and just take the time to enjoy it! Watch the news, read the paper, check your emails – whatever! Just take time to slow down and prepare yourself to take on the day.

4. Take Your Vitamins – Since we live in Alaska (hello, very little sunlight) taking my vitamins is essential.

5. Take Nature Made® Fish Oil  1200mg Burp-Less– There is no better time than the present to start making a routine of taking care of our one and only heart. Every 2 softgels provide 720 mg of heart health Omega-3s (600 mg EPA/DHA).† Nature Made’s Burp-Less formula Fish Oil is specially coated to help prevent a fishy odor

and aftertaste. Nature Made® fish oil supply only comes from wild caught ocean fish, not farm raised fish. It is purified to remove mercury. State-of-the-art purification processes remove PCBs, dioxins and furans, and mercury to ensure purity levels below 0.09 ppm, 2 ppt WHO TEQs, and 0.1 ppm respectively. There is no Color Added, No Artificial Flavors, No Yeast or Starch, Gluten Free. Nature Made® is the #1 Pharmacist Recommended Omega-3/Fish Oil Brand. Based on US News & World Report – Pharmacy Times Survey of pharmacists recommending this category.

You can find Nature Made’s Burp-Less formula Fish Oil down the Vitamin aisle at your local Walmart!

6. Make A Healthy Breakfast – Skip the fatty breakfast sandwiches and enjoy a heart healthy breakfast! Since you are waking up earlier, you will finally have time to make the breakfast your body deserves. If you’d rather skip having to prepare breakfast in the morning, meal prep breakfast ideas – like egg white muffins – and make them ahead of time.

7. Create a To-Do List for the Day – What are your goals? What do you need to get done? Make a list and prioritize these items on which you need to get done first. Doing this always makes me have a clear plan of what I need to, when and how.

These tips help me start my day happier, healthier and more productive. We only get one chance with the bodies we are given. As a Mom, I know that I need to take care of myself so that I can be a better mother to my daughter. Whether this be mentally or physically – I know it’s something I need. By taking care of myself each morning, I’m also giving my heart the healthy nutrients from Nature Made® Fish Oil 1200mg Burp-Less that it needs.  You can find Nature Made® Fish Oil 1200mg Burp-Less  sold at Walmart as a single item or Twin Pack (one for home/work, yourself/significant other, or merely “great value”). Make Nature Made your daily partner. Start another good day with Nature Made®.

Thanks for the reminder! An hour earlier sounds like torture, but its actually very beneficial! I also need to remember to take more Fish Oil!

    • Brittany | 7th Nov 17

It does, but it’s so much easier once you start doing it. Having a hot cup of coffee without having to microwave it 123456 times makes it worth it to me, haha.

  2. bailey | 6th Nov 17

When I can, I try to wake up earlier but my darn kids they sneak up on me! I’ve started staying up later and I’m not a huge fan of it.

    • Brittany | 7th Nov 17

I still stay up later than I’d like. My mornings are usually my “chill” time and my nights are when I blog hustle lol

  3. Natalie | 7th Nov 17

My father takes fish oil and tells me I should too ! Maybe I need to try this out. I need to get better at taking vitamins. I forget about them !

    • Brittany | 7th Nov 17

      The benefits are amazing!

  4. Elena | 7th Nov 17

These are great ideas! I’ll have to try taking my vitamins in the morning instead of the evening. And if I can just get my kiddos to stay asleep when I try to get up before them 🙂

    • Brittany | 7th Nov 17

      Haha! Good Luck! 🙂

  5. Michelle | 7th Nov 17

My husband’s alarm clock goes off at 4:45 — no way am I getting up any earlier than that! But I can usually get up before the kids. Given the choice, I’d rather have my alone time late at night. I’m more creative and productive then.

    • Brittany | 7th Nov 17

Oh my goodness, that is so early!

  6. Thehaywirehoney | 7th Nov 17

I haven’t been able to bring myself to wake up quite so early yet but I do get my vitamins 🙂 Good work getting up that early!

    • Brittany | 7th Nov 17

Getting your vitamins is so important though!

  7. Meaghan Dawson | 7th Nov 17

This is a great list. I force myself to get up earlier than my family too, which is ridiculous because the kids get up at 6:!5! But I need that alone time to center myself so I can be the best mom to them when they get up! Love your list!

    • Brittany | 7th Nov 17

I totally get it! We live in Alaska and it’s the “dark season” so the sun isn’t coming up until 9:30ish right now, so luckily my daughter has started sleeping in later.

  8. Amy | 7th Nov 17

I agree with you on all of these! Especially waking up before your family. I started that about a year ago and it’s a game changer! Helps me start my day so much happier!

    • Brittany | 7th Nov 17

      Yes! It really does!

  9. Tricia | 7th Nov 17

I can relate to this very much. I love my mornings. I wake up earlier than I need to just to have few minutes of quiet to myself.

    • Brittany | 7th Nov 17

I love my relaxing mornings as well!

  10. Dwan Perrin | 7th Nov 17

I was never a morning person until recently. Now I try to get up earlier to relax before the rush. ~client

    • Brittany | 7th Nov 17

That’s how I am. I love to sleep, but I need that alone/relaxing time for my sanity.

  11. Shell | 7th Nov 17

These are great tips for having a happier morning!! I get up by no later than 6am but usually by 5:30 and I feel I always have a better happier day than when I slept in 🙂

    • Brittany | 7th Nov 17

I try to do the same. Although coffee really helps haha!

  12. Nicol Valentin | 7th Nov 17

I try to do this, but my little angle seems to sense when I get up before her and those eyes pop open! She’s so cute, I can’t let her sit in her crib and cry. I do drop everything when she naps though, and use that time for myself.

    • Brittany | 7th Nov 17

Haha, it’s funny how they can sense things! Good for you! Enjoy that time when you can get it.

  13. magen | 7th Nov 17

I could use a couple of these tips. I always have such a hard time in the morning.

    • Brittany | 7th Nov 17

I still do sometimes. But they really have helped!

  14. Kari | 7th Nov 17

Love these tips! Mornings can be so tough! Thanks!

    • Brittany | 7th Nov 17

      Thanks! They really can be!

  15. Laura | 7th Nov 17

Love your morning routine! I feel better waking up earlier but it seems by doing that I wake up everyone else! I strive to implement these tips TOMORROW!! Thanks!

    • Brittany | 7th Nov 17

I hope they work for you!! You deserve a little alone time 🙂

  16. blake turck | 7th Nov 17

great post! I love all these tips, and also try to abide by pretty much every single one… and since we got a new puppy in the house, I’ve been waking up way earlier – at first I was like, ahh, but now Im starting to like it, it makes me feel like I get (or at least CAN get more done) :), and is a kinda nice way to start the day

  17. beehappy | 8th Nov 17

these are great tips! I wish I had the willpower to wake up an hour before everyone else lol. But I totally get what you mean, I need my alone time or I get crabby too.

    • Brittany | 9th Nov 17

I have to force myself to do it, lol. I definitely need my alone time too!

  18. Meagan | 8th Nov 17

I loved how the Fish Oil has boosted my energy and made me skin more vibrant as well. I will need every bit of energy I can with my 4th baby on its way soon.

    • Brittany | 9th Nov 17

Oh man, you definitely will need the energy. Good luck, mama!

  19. Yen (GlossyCover) | 8th Nov 17

I find that waking up a little earlier than everyone else puts me in a better mood for the day because, as you said, you’re not feeling rushed.

    • Brittany | 9th Nov 17

  20. Angie | 8th Nov 17

This pretty much is exactly my morning routine. I do go to the gym in the morning and then enjoy my coffee when I get home. I make my to do list the night before. I do need to start takin some vitamins again tho. Great post!

    • Brittany | 9th Nov 17

Thanks!! Doing your to-do list the night before is a great idea too!
