The New Year will be here before we know it! Are you setting New Years Resolutions to diet or to start a new fitness regimen? Normally this is the time of year where I like to reflect on my eating habits and fitness regime. The holidays can sometimes make it hard to stick to a diet and the New Year is always a great opportunity to make a fresh start!

Normally, I love to use the New Year to increase the intensity on my workout routine. However, this year I’m under doctors orders to CHILL (more on that in a blog post on a later date) and to only do very low impact exercises. So, while I can ramp up my fitness regime as part of my New Years Resolution, I am able to concentrate fully on my diet.

For the most part, I eat pretty healthy throughout the year. Today, I’m going to share some amazing tips to sticking to your diet that actually work! They’ve continued to work for me, and I know they will for you too! 

Meal Prep

Taking a few hours on Sunday (or whatever day works for you) to cook and store your food for the week will make the biggest difference in your nutrition. When I meal prep, I’m not only eating healthier, but I’m controlling my portion sizes and I’m less apt to give in to a cheat meal because I already have a meal prepared. Meal prepping my food has been an absolute game changer for me.

Pack Healthy Snacks

No matter what is on my busy agenda for the day, I find that when I pack snacks to bring with me, I’m less apt to give in to cravings or eat something bad for me. I love that I’m able to easily carry them with me, no matter where I’m going.

Drink a Glass of Water Before Eating

Often time we think we’re hungry when we’re really just thirsty or dehydrated. This is a great tip to not only ensure that you’re fully hydrated but also to add water to your stomach to help you not overeat. 

Avoid Sugary Drinks

Sugary drinks often lead to other sugar cravings, which could derail your diet. 

Track Meals

I use a phone app to help me track what I’ve eaten for the day. I like to stick to certain macros and if something I want to eat fits into that then great! This helps me stay on top of my diet plan as well as planning out my meals for the week.

    Eating healthy is such a challenge. But I think meal prep would certainly go a long way towards those “What do i eat now” questions every day. sigh! Such a struggle but great tips.
