Now that the snow has melted, Madison has begged to go outside every afternoon after her nap. My favorite memories growing up were playing outside with my brothers, so I love that Madison loves getting her hands dirty and would prefer to be outside than in. In Kodiak, it normally rains more often than not, so we have to take advantage of the sun shine when we can!

DIY Chalk Paint

This week we decided to try a new activity and made Paint Chalk! This is really easy to make and can be used immediately after mixing. My daughter loved helping me make the paint and we turned it into a learning activity by having her name and pick out the colors she wanted to use.

DIY Chalk Paint

All you need to make the chalk paint is cornstarch, water and food coloring. I used a 2:1 ratio of cornstarch to water. I used a silicone ice cube tray to mix the paints, but a muffin tin or bowls will also work.

Add your cornstarch and water until you reach your desired consistency. The more cornstarch you use, the quicker your chalk paint will dry.

Add a few drop of food coloring and mix well. Now, you’re ready to paint!

This was so much fun and it only took a few minutes to put together. Madison loved getting to paint on the cement slab in our backyard. This kept her busy for almost an hour! Once the paint dries, it will appear to look exactly like chalk.

Like most outdoor activities (or life in general with a toddler), it can get a little messy. I love keeping Dial Complete® 2 in 1 Moisturizing & Antibacterial Beauty Bar and Dial Complete® 2 in 1 Moisturizing & Antibacterial Foaming Hand Wash on hand to help clean up my always-dirty toddler! I love how hands on she is and how she doesn’t mind getting dirty, but the child is ALWAYS a mess no matter what we’re doing outside. Both of these new products are antibacterial and moisturizing. From America’s beloved soap brand of 70 years, comes a breakthrough new line-up, Dial Complete® 2 in 1 Moisturizing & Antibacterial Beauty Bar and Foaming Hand Wash. So now you can choose 2-in-1 instead of 1 of the 2.

Madison has always had extremely dry and sensitive skin but Dial Complete® 2 in 1 Foaming Hand Wash has two times the moisturizing ingredients compared to regular hand soap. This unique formula from Dial® ensures that your hands stay clean and moisturized after each wash while killing 99.99% of bacteria*(*encountered in common household settings). After an afternoon of chalk painting and getting her hands dirty, washing our hands with Dial Complete® 2 in 1 Foaming Hand Wash is the first thing we do when we come inside.

For those bigger messes that require a bath – I rely on Dial Complete® 2 in 1 Moisturizing & Antibacterial Beauty Bar to clean up my toddler. This gentle and unique formula will leave skin feeling clean, moisturized and huggably soft and beautiful! The Dial Complete® 2 in 1 Moisturizing & Antibacterial Beauty Bar can be used on the face and body for soft smooth skin.

This is great! I had no idea this could be made with hand soap. I have seen some recipes in the past that use other substances. Thanks for sharing, we’ll be sure to try it out!

Oh it’s only water, cornstarch and food coloring to make the paint! You just need Dial to help clean up your little one after. 🙂

What a fun activity! Both of my toddlers like using sidewalk chalk to draw on our driveway and sidewalk. I will have to save this post so that we can make our own chalk paint!
