Hikes, Picnics, Summer Plans & Pink Blush!

***Disclosure – I did receive free product in exchange for my honest review of PinkBlush. However my Love for PinkBlush is all my own!***

Summer is finally in full swing in Kodiak! We’ve almost been here for a year and I am STILL not used to our summer here meaning 60 degrees instead of 90. When it’s not raining the weather is absolutely gorgeous!

On sunny days we like to spend our days exploring the island. We took a short hike close to our house that leads to the beach. Alaska beaches are so different than those on the east coast. Our beaches here often have black sand and are covered with rocks.

Madison and Riley both loved running around! Living in Alaska has definitely been good for our girls adventurous spirits.

I also went on a hike to one of my favorite trails at Fort Abercrombie. I love this trail because the views are breathtaking and the hike gets a little workout in. I went with one of my girlfriends sans Madison and seriously didn’t know what to do with myself without wearing my ergo. It felt so weird to not have my toddler attached to me on this hike.

We took a few beach trips with another one of my girlfriends so our daughters (and doggies!) could have playdates. I love that Madison doesn’t mind getting dirty and just wants to have fun. While it’s normal for Riley to enjoy life to it’s fullest, I was in shock to see our 12 year-old lab swimming and running around the beach. Madison and I collected a few seashells and ran around while the doggies tried to fetch rocks and catch fish (no really – Riley brought me a fish!).

While taking full advantage of the beautiful weather, Madison and I decided to have a picnic outside! I want to be outside as much as possible and love teaching my daughter about the simple, yet fun, things we can do together. Something as simple as a picnic is a great way to spend time with your little one and you never know the memories that you’re instilling in them.

Pink Blush sent me this gorgeous Kimono that I wore for our little picnic. I’m loving all the colors and how light it is. It’s perfect to throw on over a cute tank or dress. With various colors in the design of the kimono, there are tons of outfits that I can wear it with! It will definitely be a staple in my closet this summer.

While Pink Blush is widely known for their maternity clothing line, they also have a line for women as well! I love how flattering their women’s line is as well as how fashionable it is. The best part, is that it’s transitional. So whenever we decide it’s time to expand our family, I know I’ll be able to continue to wear this Kimono.

I also FINALLY booked my flight home for August! I am SO stoked to get home, spend time with my family and friends. And of course I’m beyond ready for warmer weather, days at the beach and good southern food. August will be an exciting month for our family. I’ll get to spend a few weeks with my parents and hopefully get to see my brothers. My brothers are both in the Coast Guard and have not seen Madison since she was 6 months old. I’m so hoping it works out so that we can spend time together and so they can see how much she has grown over the past year. After visiting my family, we will also spend time at my in-laws in Cape Cod. It’ll be an amazing month full of family time and *hopefully* amazing weather. I’m excited to not only spend time with our loved ones, but for them to see the amazing person Madison has flourished into.

Does anyone else have big plans for the summer? Any cool vacations? Let me know in the comments! 🙂
