Last week, I asked on instagram (if you’re not following me, check me out here) what kind of dessert you’d like to see and these Paleo Brownies were the winner by far. The brownies are only three ingredients and the homemade icing is made with only two. These Paleo Chocolate Brownies are gluten, dairy and refined sugar free – making them the perfect healthy treat!

I’ve followed a gluten free diet for years, but thanks to my newborns milk protein allergy, I’m also officially dairy free as well. These paleo chocolate brownies keep my body and sweet tooth happy!

All you need to make the brownies are banana, almond butter and unsweetened cocoa powder. First mash your bananas and then combine all of your ingredients in a bowl. Mix until well combined. Your mix should have a thick consistency, like a normal brownie would. Add to a Pyrex dish and then place in the oven to bake.

While your brownies cook, this is the perfect time to make your homemade icing! I LOVE brownies with icing. My mom always added it to brownies when we were kids and it was always my favorite part of baking brownies, besides licking the bowl of course. For the icing, I used unsweetened coconut cream with Allergy Friendly (gluten/dairy/soy/nut free) Chocolate Chunks. I used one part coconut cream to one part chocolate chunks and melted them together on the stove top. Once melted I placed in the refrigerator to cool and thicken while the brownies finished cooking.

Once your brownies finish baking, allow them to cool before icing. And try to resist eating all the icing before putting them on your brownies – it’s good stuff!
