Winter in Kodiak has been dragging by. Last year we had a lot of snow and a lot of sunshine during the Winter months but this year it’s just been gray, rainy and gross. I’m hoping and praying that since it’s been such a mild winter that means we’ll have a beautiful summer! I’m crossing my fingers that we’ll actually be able to wear bathing suits on the beach this year.
On Monday, Matt was home for MLK day and we finally had a sunny day! We love to get outside and do something on the rare occasions that this happens during the winter months. We took Madison and our dog, Riley, down to the beach to get out their cooped up energy. Matt and I love watching them play and enjoying the time in the sunshine.
This past weekend Kodiak had an insane wind storm with hurricane forced winds in some places on the island. Because of the crazy winds and rough seas, there were hundreds more seashells on the beach than normal. Madison loves bringing us seashells she finds and trying to throw them back into the ocean and Riley will normally try to chase after the seashells that are thrown. Matt and I get a huge laugh out of that happening.
After our beach adventure, we were starving for a sweet snack. I’d picked up some Valentine’s themed M&M’s at Safeway that day, so I decided to whip together these Loaded M&M’s Rice Krispy Treats.
This fun treat is sweet, full of gooey marshmallow and something everyone will love. And they’re super easy to make!
When warm the M&M’s literally melt in your mouth. This was a huge hit in our house. Everyone was begging for more. This could be a perfect addition to your Valentines party!
4 cups of Rice Krispies
3 Tbsp of Butter
1 1/2 Cups of M&M’s
1 Package of Jet Puffed Marshmallows (10 oz)
Melt Butter in a sauce pan on medium heat
Add Marshmallows to sauce pan. Stir quickly to avoid burning marshmallows
Add Rice Krispies, marshmallows/butter and M&M’s in large mixing bowl. Stir well until combined.
