Banana Berry Smoothie Bowl

One of my favorite parts of the New Year are New Year’s resolutions!

Like majority of American’s I made the resolution to commit to a healthier lifestyle. I believe I’m pretty healthy for the most part but I completely fell off the train on my diet in December.

We hosted a Christmas Eve dinner with friends and I was left with allllll these sweets. Mind you, my husband does not like sweets. And a girl cannot let homemade oreo truffles go bad! Or chocolate covered pretzels, or chocolate chip cookies, or the bag of skittles my mom sent. I may have over splurged, just a bit.

With the New Year, comes a new opportunity to stick to commit and stick to a new plan. Now that I’ve cleared all the sweets out of our house, I’m sticking to a clean diet.

The most important meal of the day is breakfast. A healthy and balanced breakfast will set a healthy mindset for the remainder of your day. I HATE eating a breakfast that is not filling and leaves me needing a snack an hour later. I love protein packed breakfasts that leave me satisfied, but not overly full, and ready to take on my day.

Today I’ve teamed up with Great Grains® to bring you this amazing Berry Banana Smoothie Bowl.

Smoothie bowls are my newest obsession. They’re filling, they’re healthy and they taste AMAZING. There are so many customizations that you can try with a smoothie bowl, but I’m a sucker for one that is full of my favorite fruits along with the crunch of Great Grains®.

Smoothie bowls are so simple and easy to make. Combine vanilla greek yogurt, ½ of a banana, kale, blueberries and almond milk in blender. Blend until well pureed. I freeze my kale and bananas because I live in Alaska and produce doesn’t last, but if you don’t have those frozen then I would advise to throw in a few ice cubes. This should be thick and smoothie like, not runny.

Pour smoothie into a bowl and add Great Grains®, chia seeds and the other half of your banana. Great Grains® is a delicious compliment to any smoothie bowl. It adds the perfect crunch that is not only tasty, but filling.

You can switch up your toppings, but the combination of Great Grains®, bananas, chia seeds and blueberry smoothie is superb. My one-year-old, Madison, even tried this smoothie bowl and would say “Mmmmm” after every bite.

Delicious, easy, and healthy – what more could you want?
