Now that we finally have a house I am so excited to REALLY check out the town and embrace Kodiak. It was so hard being in a hotel and going and doing as we wanted. We also didn’t have a kitchen, so we couldn’t get the full experience of the local seafood here.
Kodiak is known for it’s Alaskan Salmon. Supposedly it’s almost TOO easy to catch them here. One of our plans for the future is to get a deep freezer so we can freeze what Matt catches. But for now I am just excited to finally have a kitchen again to try out some new recipes in.
Last week we decided to look around the downtown area and marina. The marina is huge and absolutely stunning. There was a lot of cute little coffee shops and little restaurants outside of the marina that I am dying to try out! One of them advertised having gluten free items, so that’s going to be the first on my list.
While walking around we discovered a local seafood market! Majority of their items were caught locally, with the exception of a few items like lobster and mussels. We’d been dying for some really good seafood so we decided to stock up on salmon and a few other things.
When we got home we were dying for our favorite Sweet & Tangy Salmon Recipe! This is something that I made several times in North Carolina and Matt always loved it. The combination of brown sugar and mustard combines to give the salmon a sweet and tangy taste that is hard to beat.
