When my daughter was an infant we went through a time where we struggled with bath time. She absolutely HATED it. Bath time was always accompanied by screams and tears – from both baby and Mama. As a new Mom, I’d always envisioned bath time being this relaxing, bonding time with my daughter. Instead I felt like I was torturing her. Eventually, after a lot of trial and error, we found our groove and what worked for us to make bath time much easier.
In a few weeks, we will be adding a baby boy to our family. I feel confident that our trials with my daughter will help us make bath time easier and more relaxing this go around. We learned many awesome tips and tricks that may also help you!
Warm Bath Water
Nobody likes a cold or too-hot bath, including little babies. Infants have extremely sensitive skin and a bath that is too hot could be extremely harmful to a little one. The trick is to keep your water temperature around 100 degrees. This should feel warm, but not hot and should refrain from getting too chilly during the duration of the bath. There are even baby tubs now that will alert you when the water is too hot or too cold.
Place a Washcloth Over Baby
Placing a washcloth over baby while they are in the water is another way to help them stay warm. When we started doing this with Madison, it really helped keep her happy and warm.
Use Baby Magic Bath Products
We loved using Baby Magic Bath Products for Madison – and still do. But now that we’re preparing for baby number two, I’m’ so excited to hear that Baby Magic is rebranding! For more than 65 years, Baby Magic Products have been taking care of our babies skin. This Spring, Baby Magic is launching innovative category offerings, enhanced formulations with wholesome ingredients and a new look featuring the brand’s first ever mascot – the Baby Magic bunny. Our babies needs are constantly changing – including the need for wholesome ingredients. Baby Magic listened and is granting our wishes for more wholesome ingredients while keeping our favorite signature scents, and getting rid of the things we don’t like – like sulfates, mineral oil, dyes, parabens, phthalates, talc and lanolin.
Madison has had sensitive skin from day one, so we have loved using the Sweet Buttercup Scent Product Line. This line is created for those babies with dry or sensitive skin. It’s even hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested and safe for newborn skin. The Sweet Buttercup Scent Line includes ingredients like Calendula Oil, Coconut Oil and Shea Butter to help sooth sensitive and dry skin while also making it feel smooth and comfortable all through the day and night.
Baby Magic also has the Original Baby Scent Product line that is perfect for those little ones with normal to dry skin. The ingredients include Camellia Oil and Marshmallow Root to help moisturize and soothe dry skin while also calming any inflammation.
The Lavender Lullaby Scent Product Line was created to help prepare baby for bedtime. It includes ingredients like lavender, chamomile and aloe that will help baby’s skin feel hydrated and moisturized while also helping prepare baby for sleep. As a new mom, we all want our baby’s to sleep a little more, so the Lavender Lullaby Scent line is perfect for a bedtime routine.
Stick With a Consistent Routine
Babies thrive on routine. A consistent bedtime routine will help prepare your little one for a restful nights sleep. Whether you have a newborn or a toddler, a consistent bedtime routine will help make everyone more prepared to go to bed and create a more relaxing atmosphere.
Clean Pajamas & Diaper Changes
Having clean pajamas with a fresh, clean, diaper helps prepare baby for a restful night of sleep. I love using Baby Magic 3-in-1 wipesfor all of our little (and not so little) messes. These can be used on your baby’s face, hands, bottom and body. These are formulated with 99% water and contain plant-based ingredients, making it suitable for even the most sensitive skin.
Multi-Purpose Hydrogel Patch
These patches are made to help nourish and calm baby’s skin. They’re formulated with aloe, B12 and Camphor which all help sooth, calm and protect against further discomfort while also sealing in hydration. I LOVE using these on my toddler and I’ve been stocking up in preparation for baby Grayson. These are even perfect for Mom or Dad! Madison had extremely bad eczema, so I love using the multi-purpose hydrogel patch to sooth her eczema spots when they pop up.
End With a Bottle
For my first baby, we quickly learned to give a bottle before bedtime. This helped fill up her belly and prepare her for a restful night of sleep. We kept this up until she eventually gave up her bottle.
Baby Magic was a big part of our bedtime routine with Madison and I know it will continue to be with Baby Grayson. You can find more information on Baby Magic Products at BabyMagic.com.
